5 x 5 meter Clip and Climb MuralThis is the mural illustration I finished earlier this month for Clip and Climb Chelsea. Later that week I graduated from UAL-Camberwell so it was a good week. Shout out to my brother Aaron for recommending me for the commission. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=271719996341766&set=vb.100005113020242&type=2&theater

The Third Noun: Four Legs in the Morning
Although this piece is still incomplete it was selected to be exhibited through the Art Cube competition, such was the interest surrounding it. During the exhibition it was critiqued by curators from: White Chapel Gallery, White Cube Gallery, Pertwee Anderson and Gold, Saatchi Gallery, Tate Modern, Carslaw St Lukes and many more, where it was well received.

Electrodynamic Induction
Paint over laps drawing, has dried and is scraped off again in sections. The sculptural element intercedes and erases the physical limitations of the 2-D. Glossy black paint is drawn into with black oil pastel in a way that its form hides and become visible again as you examine the painting from different angles. The competent use of the smudged drawn line is a prominent feature of my work and it fully encapsulates my disregard towards the flaws in the institution and traditional modes of producing Art. .

Electrodynamic Induction is the visual bridge between my ‘Profanity Black’ series and my new series ‘Nouns’. The visual influences of Basquiat, Mark Bradford and Ernie Barnes are translated and combined to accentuate the feeling of class, power and elegance that resonates from the female figure. I took further inspiration from Nefertiti’s bust and photos of Dorothy Dandridge for Carmen Jones. Dandridge famously missed out on an Oscar to Marilyn Monroe and later committed suicide. Her figure is referenced in many other black Artists works such as Kerry James-Marshall.

The Second Noun; The Red Room

I continued to push the boundaries of the limitations of traditional visual arts. The sculptural element of the plant pot intercedes and erases the physical limitations of the 2-D, drawing the viewer into the painters world.  With no formal art training I am learning composition through great painters such as Paula Rego; The Policeman’s Daughter, Mattise; The red Room and Patrick Caulfield; Interior with a Picture.

'4 Legs in the Morning'This is the piece I created for the ArtCube London exhibition. Inspired the riddle ‘what has four legs in the morning, two legs in the after noon and three legs in the evening’, I hoped to begin to show the role of the feminine within the development of the man. The piece is not complete and will be the first part of a triptic. The triptic will  particularly comment on the role of the matriarch of in Caribbean culture. http://www.art-cube.co.uk/student-competition/
